Because of the strikes that occurred in Hollywood the previous year, the 75th Emmy Awards were postponed for a period of four months. This resulted in an unusual scheduling situation for the entertainment industry: back-to-back award events.
The Critics' Choice Awards, which were held on Sunday in Los Angeles and were presented by Chelsea Handler, could be considered only an opening act for the Emmys, which will take place on Monday. On the other hand, due to the fact that the honors are given out for both television and movies, it was highly improbable that film performers who were competing for nominations for the Academy honors would pass up the chance to be recognized. This coming January 23rd will see the announcement of the next round of Oscar candidates.
